The Maori Pioneer Battalion- Reading- Paraphrasing

Today for literacy, Mr Wiseman gave us a task to complete before the end of this week. Our task is about paraphrasing. Paraphrasing is when you get a story that someone has already written and write it in your own words. If you don't write it in your own words, that means that you are plagiarising. Scroll through this presentation and hopefully you will know what paraphrasing is. Thank you for your time.

Cyber Smart Values-Making Links

Today for maths, Miss Kyla came into our classroom and taught us about how to protect your self from public sites that harms or gives you a virus. Here is a google drawing that I had made a copy of and wrote the things that would help me be protective, learn how to participate and also learnt how to show partnership on an online site.

Mr Burt's Korero About World War 1

Last week on a Thursday afternoon, Mr Burt arrived at the street, also known as our assembly area. We all gathered into the street as Mr Burt spoke to us about the technology that was used throughout the war. He asked us a question about technology, is it good or bad and he also talked to us about how his grandfather was in the war. Mr Burt also mentioned Mrs Flavell's grandfather too. His grandfather was the first to have a normal bicycle and it looked very weird compared to our bicycles we have now.

After he talked about his grandfather being in the war, he talked to us about four letters that spells out the word MAIN. The only letter he talked to us about was the letter M. The Letter M stands for Militarism. For example, Militarism is when two kids in the playground and they’re hitting each other. They start shoving and talks badly to one another. That is what militarism stands for, said Mr Burt. In the war, the British and the German were not really friendly to each other. They were enemies. The British built a lot of things in the war and so did the Germans, but they had copied most of the British technologies but they just upgraded it.

Anzac Memorial Writing- World War 1

Every year on the 25th of April, there has always been an event called Anzac day. This year on Anzac day will be a very special day because it has been the 100th year since the first world war. This event is an honour to all the soldiers that fought for our lands and country. At the front of the Museum in Auckland there is a large stone that has names of soldiers and that stone is called a Cenotaph.

As I sat down near our little Anzac memorial, I pondered about all the soldiers who fought in the war and also thought about how it would of have felt to be fighting in the war. It must've been so hard and exhausting for the soldiers that were there. Many of them had sacrificed their lives for us and we shall appreciate them all. ‘Lest We Forget’

The only thing I could picture in my mind was a lot of gore, people dieing and guns firing throughout the battlefield. It is really hard to hear that one of your family members had past away during the war especially if they meant a lot to you. Many people were devastated as soon as they heard their sons or dads had passed on and they have a really peaceful home.

Zeal Zone- Symbol For Anzac Day

For remembrance day, we had to research symbols to commemorate the people who died throughout the war. This design is about peace and that dove represents it. I think that there shouldn't been a war and there should be peace in the world. Thank you very much for reading this and visiting my blog!
